In a new heartfelt interview, the soap opera veteran confirms her departure from 'Days of Our Lives', ending her run as both Gwen Rizczech and Theresa Donovan.

AceShowbiz - Emily O'Brien has officially closed the door on her five-year journey in "Days of Our Lives". The actress, who portrayed two distinct characters over her tenure on the show, has bid farewell to Salem.

In a heartfelt interview with Soap Opera Digest, O'Brien expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to play both Gwen and Theresa. "I not only got to play one amazing role, but I played two amazing roles," she said.

Initially, O'Brien's tenure was not expected to be as long as it turned out to be. "I wasn't supposed to be on the show for as long as I was. I never thought that daytime would be something that was accessible to me again," she confessed.

After portraying Gwen for over two years, O'Brien made a memorable switch to Theresa in a "most insane recasting ever." She boarded a plane as Gwen and emerged as Theresa in a separate flight, shocking viewers with the seamless transition.

O'Brien's love for Theresa and her involvement within the show's narrative grew during her portrayal. "I ended up falling in love with Theresa and who she is and the circle that she's involved in," she acknowledged.

While O'Brien's departure may be bittersweet, she remains open to future possibilities. "You never know," she said when asked about reprising either of her roles down the line.

O'Brien's exit from "Days of Our Lives" follows a string of recent departures from the veteran soap opera. Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) and Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady) bid farewell in July, leaving fans in anticipation of what's to come for the show's future.
