The 'Game of Thrones' prequel series broke Nielsen records by becoming the most-watched streaming program after a record-breaking mid-season viewership.

AceShowbiz - After debuting its explosive Episode 4 on July 7, "House of the Dragon" tallied up an impressive 1.27 billion viewing minutes during the period of July 8 through July 14, as reported by Nielsen. This marked the first time the series ranked as the most-watched streaming program, surpassing popular shows like "Bluey", "Suits" and "The Boys".

Notably, this is also the first time any streaming title has exceeded 1 billion viewing minutes in Nielsen's top 10 list. "Love Island USA" also achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 1 billion viewing minutes for the first time, joining the "Love Island" franchise in the top 10.

"House of the Dragon" outperformed other popular streaming shows, including "Dexter", "Grey's Anatomy" and "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F". Notably, around half of "Love Island USA" viewers fall within the 18-34 demographic, highlighting its popularity among young adults.

The streaming landscape has seen a surge in viewership, with Nielsen reporting that the week of July 1-7 was the largest in streaming history with over 313 billion viewing minutes. This surge has resulted in a highly competitive market, with streaming services vying for viewers' attention.

"House of the Dragon" has proven to be a major force in the streaming world, capturing a massive audience and breaking Nielsen records. Its success is a testament to the popularity of the "Game of Thrones" franchise and the show's ability to draw in new viewers.
