AceShowbiz - Blake Lively stunned on the red carpet at the premiere of her film "It Ends With Us", wearing a vintage Versace gown that had a special connection to Britney Spears. The actress, 36, recreated Spears' iconic look from the brand's 2002-2003 ready-to-wear fall/winter runway show during Milan Fashion Week.
Lively revealed to PEOPLE that the dress was Spears' actual gown. "It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met, but it's on me. I feel so lucky!" she said. The multicolored, slip-inspired gown featured an asymmetrical neckline and was covered in sparkles.
In a conversation with Extra TV, Lively explained why Spears meant so much to her. "She represented love and beauty and youth and hard work and determination and strength. And she was in touch with her sexuality and her delicacy, and she just sort of represented it all," she said.
Lively also shared her admiration for Spears on Instagram, calling her the "ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories." She thanked Spears for her example and her contribution to women telling their stories.
In the film, Lively portrays a florist named Lily Bloom, and she has been channeling her character's floral theme throughout her promotional tour. She has worn various floral-embellished designs, including vibrant frocks, flower purses, and beaded ensembles.
Lively's red carpet look was a nod to her character and a tribute to Spears. It also featured accessories that matched the colors of the dress, including rings from Lorraine Schwartz's fine jewelry line and a pair of dangle drop earrings. Her glam also played into the gown's colors, with soft pink eyeshadow and matte lipstick.
Lively was joined at the premiere by her husband Ryan Reynolds, who wore an olive green suit with a white floral boutonniere. They were also accompanied by Reynolds' "Deadpool & Wolverine" co-star Hugh Jackman.
