AceShowbiz - Miss Michigan Alma Cooper has officially been crowned Miss USA 2024. Cooper was announced as the winner of the annual pageant, held in Los Angeles on August 4, at the Peacock Theater.
She was crowned by Miss USA 2023 Savannah Gankiewicz, who accepted the crown in May after the shocking resignation of former titleholder Noelia Voigt. Voigt, who made history as the first Venezuelan-American to win Miss USA, resigned for mental health reasons, alleging a toxic work environment within the organization.
Two days after Voigt's resignation, Miss Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava also stepped down, citing a misalignment of values.
Cooper will represent the United States in the 2024 Miss Universe Pageant, which will take place in November. The new Miss Teen USA 2024, Mississippi's Addie Carver, was crowned on August 1.
Despite the recent pageant resignations, Gankiewicz has expressed satisfaction with her experience. She believes that raising awareness for Maui after the wildfires that ravaged the island has been a highlight of her reign.
Cooper's victory marks a new chapter in the Miss USA pageant's history. She will carry the responsibility of representing the country and advocating for positive values. Her message of empowerment and beauty, she hopes, will inspire young women to feel confident and pursue their dreams.
