AceShowbiz - Singer-songwriter Clairo, born Claire Cottrill, has broken her long-standing tradition of shunning music videos by unveiling a striking new visual for the track "Juna" from her latest album, "Charm". The surprise hit has not only charmed audiences but also climbed charts, pushing Clairo to step back into the world of music videos after a notable hiatus.
The Bradley J Calder-directed video sets Clairo in a vibrant and unexpected environment: a Beyond Wrestling's Wrestling Open in Worcester, MA. The clip begins with Clairo attending a classic, gritty independent circuit wrestling show at a VFW. The atmosphere transitions from solitary observation to communal celebration as she is joined by an enthusiastic crowd. The video takes viewers backstage, showcasing Clairo mingling with wrestlers while the entire scene, from the audience to the ring announcer, lip-syncs the song's closing melody.
"I made that song not thinking it was going to become huge," Clairo mentioned in her track-by-track breakdown for Rolling Stone. "The performance on Fallon was going to be 'Sexy to Someone' and then everything started happening with 'Juna'. So we changed it maybe two days before, which was nerve-wracking, but super sweet. I just wasn't anticipating doing mouth trumpet on television."
Clairo's music career initially skyrocketed with her 2017 DIY webcam video for "Pretty Girl", a visual that went viral and placed her on the musical map. However, despite the video's massive success, Clairo has exhibited a preference for letting her music stand alone, without accompanying videos.
