On July 3, Zappe and Lewis exchanged vows overlooking a secluded lake in the presence of just 32 loved ones. The couple drew inspiration from their favorite TV show, "Yellowstone," and opted for a rustic ceremony surrounded by breathtaking mountain views.

Zappe and Lewis met as students at Houston Baptist University in 2017. Their initial encounter failed to spark a romantic connection, but they later began texting and bonding over their shared love for the drama series "Yellowstone."

Zappe proposed to Lewis in May 2023 during a family wedding dress shopping appointment. After Lewis' sister-in-law captured family photos in a gazebo, Zappe dropped to one knee and presented her with a ring. Lewis was overjoyed and surprised.

Initially, the couple planned a larger barn wedding in Texas. However, as they delved further into the arrangements, they realized that it did not align with their personal style. They opted for a more intimate elopement with their closest family and friends.

With the help of photographer and wedding planner Sydney Dahl, they booked a cabin two hours from the wedding site and planned a weekend filled with group hikes and sightseeing.

On the morning of the wedding, the couple and their guests traveled to the lake in party buses. The processional was a moment of great anticipation for both the bride and groom. Lewis remembers telling Zappe that if he did not cry when he first saw her, she would turn around.

The ceremony was officiated by Zappe's college football coach, Zach Kittley. After the vows, the newlyweds and their guests returned to the cabin for a festive reception.

The reception featured a dinner catered by Great Northwest Catering, with menu items carefully selected by the couple, including tomahawk steak and shrimp for Zappe and truffle mac and cheese for Lewis. Insomnia Cookies were also served as a nod to Zappe's favorite dessert.

The first dance was set to Tim McGraw's "My Best Friend," a song that holds special meaning for the couple. As night fell, the guests danced to a playlist of their favorite music and enjoyed the extended family holiday atmosphere.

Zappe and Lewis plan to embark on a short minimoon to Disney World before planning a larger honeymoon next summer, potentially in Europe. As they look back on their wedding, they feel that pivoting to a more intimate and personal event was the perfect decision.
