AceShowbiz - Kate Middleton's parents, Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton, attended the Wimbledon tennis tournament on Thursday, July 4. While the Princess of Wales has yet to attend the renowned sports competition, her parents kept the tradition.
Carole and Michael showed up on day four of the legendary Grand Slam tournament. They took their seats in the prestigious royal box on Center Court inside the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
For the occasion, Carole opted to comply with the tournament's summery dress code. The 69-year-old wore a colorful dress adorned with puffed sleeves and a ruffled neckline.
She completed her look with a white blazer with retro puffed sleeves, a pair of colorful orange sunglasses, brown suede heels and a trendy basket-weave bag. As for Michael, he kept it classic with a blue jacket, tie and sunglasses.
Kate seemingly will skip this year's Wimbledon due to her ongoing cancer treatment. While she is limiting her royal engagement, the mom of three made her first public appearance of 2024 at the annual Trooping of the Colour ceremony last month. Following her appearance at the event celebrating King Charles' birthday, Kate shared in an Instagram post, "[I] hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet."
Meanwhile, Debbie Jevans, chair of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, recently expressed cautious optimism that the princess would attend the event. "We're hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club's patron, but her health and recovery is the priority," Jevans told Telegraph Sport on Thursday. "We don't know what we don't know. All we've said is that we'll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible."
Attending Wimbledon has been a tradition for Kate. She usually presented the trophies while showcasing numerous chic, tennis-inspired outfits. At last year's Wimbledon, Kate stunned in a chic emerald-green dress by Roland Mouret.
