AceShowbiz - Bunnie XO and her husband Jelly Roll, the acclaimed country star whose real name is Jason DeFord, are set to take a significant step in their lives as they explore expanding their family through in vitro fertilization (IVF) with surrogate. Their journey, which initially started in 2019, has now gained momentum as they feel ready both mentally and financially. Married in 2016, Bunnie, 44, and Jelly Roll, 39, are determined to share this monumental chapter with the world despite the challenges.
"This journey with IVF, we sat down a couple months ago. And I was just like, I feel like I've accomplished so much in my life. And the only thing that's left is to raise a baby and garden," Bunnie said on her "Dumb Blonde" podcast. "I'm in my baby mama (and) gardening era."
Jelly Roll, already a proud father to 16-year-old Bailee Ann and 7-year-old Noah Buddy, was more than enthusiastic about the idea. "J was like ... I would love to have a baby with you," Bunnie recalled, noting her surprise at his excitement. With plans to undergo IVF with a surrogate, the couple aims to implant in February 2025, considering the possibility of having twin boys.
Their openness about the journey took a turn when Jelly Roll revealed their plans on the "Bussin' With the Boys" podcast. Initially intending to keep the process private, they shifted their stance to share their story with the public. "We had planned on doing this privately, but decided our IVF journey needed to be shared because we've always been so open. And w/all odds stacked against us, it's already been hard & we have only just begun," Bunnie wrote in a caption accompanying a video of Jelly Roll breaking the news.
Bunnie, who is using her eggs and Jelly Roll's sperm, made it clear that they will be utilizing a surrogate due to her mental health considerations. "I am not mentally well enough to let my hormones get out of whack," she stated, emphasizing the struggles of past pregnancies and acknowledging that surrogacy is the most viable option for them.
Despite the initial apprehensions about public scrutiny, the response has been overwhelmingly supportive. "Anybody that's dealt with infertility or having a hard time getting pregnant, that's all you want is people rooting you on. It's a very fragile situation," Bunnie expressed. She added, "From here on out with the IVF journey, I want to keep it private ... The next time you hear me talk about IVF or the babies is going to be when the babies are born, when we're introducing them to you."
This heartfelt journey not only reflects their love and commitment to each other but also shines a light on the challenges and triumphs of IVF, offering inspiration to many who might be walking a similar path.
