Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline's attorney, described the situation as a "complex and lengthy process" but labeled the phone call as a "step in the right direction." Despite several reports, Kaplan clarified that Spears did not fly to Hawaii to meet her sons in person. Instead, any in-person meeting is yet to happen since the boys moved to Hawaii with Federline, his wife Victoria Prince, and their two younger children in 2023.

Spears' son Jayden had previously shared his aspirations about mending the relationship, stating, "I 100 percent think this can be fixed. It's just going to take a lot of time and effort." He mentioned that his reluctance stemmed mainly from Spears' erratic social media behavior. Jayden voiced his concerns, noting, "It's like almost as if she has to put something on Instagram to get attention."
