AceShowbiz - On the highly anticipated revival of the beloved Disney Channel show "Wizards of Waverly Place", "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place", David Henrie and Selena Gomez reunited to reprise their roles as Justin and Alex Russo. Henrie, known for his performance as Justin, recently shared his excitement and admiration for Gomez, stating in an interview that the reunion was "awesome."

"It was awesome. We didn’t want it to end. It was great. She's so good," Henrie said of Gomez. "She has such a quick wit that's only gotten stronger."

Henrie also hinted at emotional moments in the revival that will resonate with dedicated fans of the original series. "We have a couple of scenes that I think will choke up the original fan of the original show, and they're really touching, and they went really well," he revealed.

"Wizards Beyond Waverly Place" follows Justin Russo as he navigates life as a mortal alongside his wife, Giada, and children, Milo and Roman. When Alex introduces a young wizard named Billie to Justin's world, he must mentor her and protect the future of the Wizard World, all while balancing his everyday responsibilities.

In addition to Henrie and Gomez, the cast of "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place" includes Janice LeAnn Brown, Mimi Gianopulos, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko and Taylor Cora.

The revival is expected to debut later in 2024 on Disney Channel and Disney+. Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers alongside Gary Marsh, Selena Gomez and David Henrie. Andy Fickman directed and executive-produced the pilot and will direct multiple episodes.

Henrie emphasized the revival's commitment to capturing the essence of the original series, incorporating its themes, values and comedic elements. He also teased new developments in the storyline, particularly Justin's life without magical powers, which remains a mystery set to be unraveled in the pilot episode and beyond.
