AceShowbiz - King Charles and Queen Camilla, accompanied by John Warren, their racing adviser, attended the Epsom Derby Festival on May 31st. Their horse, Treasure, inherited from the late Queen Elizabeth, participated in the Betfred Oaks, a race that held Queen Elizabeth in high regard as an avid horse lover and breeder.
Treasure, a daughter of stallion Masterscraftsman and Shimmering Light, finished in 11th place out of the 12 horses competing in the Betfred Oaks. The prize money for the top six positions totaled £541,035.
Despite Treasure's finish, King Charles and Queen Camilla remained enthusiastic throughout the outing. They presented the Coronation Cup Trophy to the winner, British jockey Ryan Moore, after the 3.10pm Holland Cooper Coronation Cup.
King Charles has previously shown success in horse racing. Last year, at Royal Ascot, their horse Desert Hero won the King George V Stakes.
King Charles recently resumed a full schedule of royal duties, including public outings, after staying largely out of the spotlight amid his cancer treatment. He will attend Trooping the Colour on June 15th, seated in a horse-drawn carriage alongside Queen Camilla, instead of riding on horseback as in previous years.
