AceShowbiz - Avril Lavigne has been highly criticized over her ongoing tour. The "Here's to Never Growing Up" songstress, who has been busy amid her ongoing "Greatest Hits Tour", was met with backlash over her "lazy performances" at her concerts.
On Wednesday, May 29, the 39-year-old singer/songwriter became a hot topic on X, formerly known as Twitter. Out of many critics, one X user sent a supportive message to her, writing, "People expect Avril to perform like [Beyonce Knowles]. She already said that she's a 'SHY PERSON.' Avril is one of the most talented and unproblematic artists I know. Can we stop this negative criticism and appreciate her instead?"
In the meantime, other users expressed disagreement to the claim in the tweet. One of them penned, "I don't think anyone is expecting her to perform like Beyonce. You totally made that up. I think ppl are expecting her to perform like she wants to be there."
Similarly, another chimed in, "If she was THAT SHY she couldn't even sing in front of thousands of people. I understand she is not a dancer but she can give us a great show if she wanted to. She is Just a little lazy. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER but thats the truth."
A third added, "Love her but we are lying if we are trying to say the shows aren't lacking energy and personality. it's clear by interviews she continues to tour for money and the fun backstage experiences. let's not try to pretend the shows are something they are not."
Avril has been bombarded with complaints about her performances during her tour. After she treated social media users to a series of photos from the "Greatest Hits Tour", several Instagram users demanded her offer better performances.
In the comments section of her Monday, May 27 post, one criticized, "It seems like you only care about the aesthetic these days with outfits and stage props based on your past. What about the music? You lost the connection with your audience and with your own songs if you think that we are all here just for the hit singles and cheap nostalgia. Wake up, Avril!!"
