The 'Son of a Sinner' singer entertains the annual award show's attendees with a performance of his 2023 track after being announced as the winner of the accolade.

AceShowbiz - Jelly Roll took the stage at the 2024 CMT Music Awards following his Performance of the Year win. After winning the accolade and two others at the annual award show, the "Son of a Sinner" singer entertained attendees with a performance of "Halfway to Hell".
On Sunday, April 7, the 39-year-old country star stepped onstage to deliver the 2023 song near the end of the ceremony. Appearing on the stage with white smoke behind him, he sang, "I'm a county jail revival/ I'm a bottle and a Bible/ I'm a rolling stone disciple/ With a cross across my face/ I'm a trailer park tornado/ Jagged edges on my halo/ Hope the chariot gon' swing low/ And carry me away."
While walking to approach band members at the center of the stage, Jelly continued, "This little light of mine/ Damn near burned me alive/ Lord knows that Mama tried/ And I don't know if I'm/ Halfway to Heaven or halfway to hell/ My angels and demons at war with myself/ One foot in the fire and I still can't tell/ Am I halfway to Heaven/ Halfway to Heaven or hell."
For the performance, Jelly opted to wear an all-black outfit. He sported a white tee under a matching jacket. He also rocked a pair of long matching pants and matching sneakers. To add color variations to the look, he put on a silver chain necklace, gold bracelet, matching wrist watch and rings.
After delivering the song, the "Need a Favor" singer garnered mixed responses from social media users. Making use of X, formerly known as Twitter, one user praised, "Just witness the 2025 CMT PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR WINNER!!!!" Similarly, another exclaimed, "Awesome show, congratulations Jelly!"
In contrast, a third complained, "Welcome to cmt clownworld. Country world is near death. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings would be rolling around in their Graves with this s**t show. So sad. This is a pop show, not a country show."
That same night, Jelly was announced as the biggest winner at the 2024 CMT Music Awards. For "Need a Favor", he nabbed three awards, namely Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year award for his performance from the 2023 CMT Music Awards.
