The highly-anticipated sophomore season of the Marvel animated series will continue the journey as The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) guides viewers through the vast multiverse.

AceShowbiz - "What If…?" season 2 will make Marvel fans' holiday season even more fun. On Wednesday, November 15, Marvel released a new trailer and poster as well as a release date for the highly-anticipated new season.

The new trailer features Hank Pym, the Winter Soldier and Black Widow as they are on a mission. The new footage also sees Gamora, Valkyrie and Tony Stark participating in a deadly race on Sakaar. Meanwhile, "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" characters are seen going against Odin and his Asgardian forces.

Elsewhere in the trailer, The Watcher says, "You thought the story was over, but it was just the beginning. I don't do sequels… normally. But things have gotten a little twisted in the Multiverse." More fan-favorite characters, including Nebula, Hela and Happy Hogan, are expected to make appearances in the upcoming sophomore season.

In addition to the new trailer, Marvel treated fans to a new poster for the new season via social media. "All new episodes of Marvel Studios' #WhatIf are coming to @DisneyPlus on December 22. Unwrap one episode every day for nine consecutive days as our gift to you!" it wrote in the caption.

In the second season of the animated series, "What If…?" continues "the journey as The Watcher guides viewers through the vast multiverse, introducing brand new and familiar faces throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles."

Bryan Andrews directs the 9 episodes for the new season in addition to serving as executive producer. Executive producer AC Bradley, meanwhile, is the head writer. Jeffrey Wright returns as the Watcher, who narrates the series. Joining him in season 2 of "What If…?" are Hayley Atwell (Captain Carter), Lake Bell (Black Widow) and Josh Keaton (Captain America).

Marking the first-ever animated series from Marvel Studios, "What If…?" debuted in August 2021. The hit series explores limitless possibilities lying throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
