In addition to pushing back the next three films in the James Cameron-created franchise to 2025, 2029 and 2031, Disney announces new dates for several Marvel films such as 'Captain America: Brave New World' and 'Fantastic Four'.

AceShowbiz - "Avatar" producer has come with a sort of consolation for fans after Disney pushed back the release of its sequels. Not letting viewers down, Jon Landau has unleashed a new picture from the upcoming third movie while addressing the delays.

"Each Avatar film is an exciting but epic undertaking that takes time to bring to the quality level we as filmmakers strive for and audiences have come to expect," Landau posted on his Instagram and Twitter accounts along with the behind-the-scenes image. He added, "The team is hard at work and can't wait to bring audiences back to Pandora in December 2025."

Earlier on Tuesday, June 13, Disney revealed a shake-up that affected not only the three "Avatar" sequels, but also several "Star Wars" and Marvel films. The studio pushed back "Avatar 3" from December 20, 2024 to December 19, 2025, "Avatar 4" from December 18, 2026 to December 21, 2029, and the fifth and final installment, "Avatar 5", from December 22, 2028, to December 19, 2031.

"Captain America: Brave New World" is moving from May 3, 2024 to July 26, 2024, which in turn is delaying "Thunderbolts" to December 20, 2024. "Blade" is moved to February 14, 2025, the new "Fantastic Four" reboot is now slated to arrive on May 2, 2025, and "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" is pushed back an entire year from May 2, 2025 to May 1, 2026, taking over the slot of "Avengers: Secret Wars", which is jumping to May 27, 2027.

The new calendar includes the addition of a "Star Wars" film in December 2026, in addition to another "Star Wars" film which is delayed from December 2025 to May 2026. A separate "Star Wars" film is set for December 17, 2027.

Meanwhile, a live-action "Moana" gets June 27, 2025 release date, with "Deadpool 3" being moved up from November 8, 2024 to May 3, 2024. Elsewhere, a new "Alien" movie directed by Fede Alvarez will open on August 16, 2024.

Production delays and the ongoing WGA strike have been cited as reason behind the reshuffle. Disney recently paused filming on "Blade" and "Thunderbolts", which caused a ripple effect on the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
