AceShowbiz - Madonna has teamed up with Sam Smith for new music. The "Back That Up to the Beat" songstress announced on Wednesday, May 31 that she will release a new collaboration with the English singer called "Vulgar".
Making use of Instagram, the 64-year-old shared a cover art for the track. The said snap shows a black-and-white shot of two cinched corsets being put side-by-side with their initials, "S&M".
In the caption, Madonna wrote, "VULGAR…………. new song out Friday June 9th @samsmith." Sam also promoted the upcoming song on their own Instagram page.
The announcement came more than a month after Madonna dropped the "American Life" music video. The gruesome clip was initially released around the same time as the 2003 invasion of Iraq, leading Madonna to face "un-Americanism" accusations and later withdraw the clip.
As for Sam, the non-binary musician recently pulled out the rest of their U.K. tour as they have suffered a "vocal cord injury." The "Stay With Me" singer closed their Manchester concert after just four songs on Wednesday night, May 25 due to "vocal issues."
Sam then pulled their rescheduled shows in Birmingham in Glasgow, as doctors warned them that they could risk causing "permanent damage" to their voice, with full refunds offered. A social media statement read, "Due to vocal issues during last night's Manchester performance, regrettably we will be cancelling the rescheduled Birmingham and Glasgow Sam Smith shows. Doctors have advised due to a vocal cord injury, Sam must have complete vocal rest."
"Sam is heartbroken to have had to cancel these shows but they have been told by doctors that if they keep singing, they will do permanent damage to their voice," it added. "If they take some rest they will be able to perform again."
