More than two years after audio of their heated argument was leaked by his own son Kerrion, the gospel singer confesses that he was left traumatized and had difficult years due to the incident.

AceShowbiz - Kirk Franklin has had something to say about the impact of son Kerrion leaking an explicit phone call. Over two years after his son shared audio of their heated argument, the gospel singer confessed that he had the "worst years" of his life due to the incident.

In an interview with Page Six, the 53-year-old unveiled the truth about his condition after his son released the explicit recording. He admitted that the incident caused the "worst two years of my life." He added, "It traumatizes me to this day. It is very difficult, and my wife [Tammy Franklin] will tell you."

About what actually happened prior to the fight, the nineteen-time Grammy Award winner explained, "That tape was a reflection of years of what our family dynamic has been going through, just so you know. You don't have that type of anger out there without there being a history of something."

Back in March 2021, Kirk's son Kerrion took to Instagram to share audio of a recorded explicit conversation between him and his father. In it, his father could be heard saying, "You need to get your skinny motherf**king a back out the goddamn way before I put my foot in your a*. I will break your neck if you ever disrespect me."

Along with the video, Kerrion wrote a lengthy caption that read, "This is why I'm done. No father should speak to their children like this. If I have any issues it's because Of this type of treatment that ii deal with behind closed doors. Hanging up in my face, No apology, no compassion, no effort. Stop telling me to go home to my family I don't even know where they live."

"I don't think I'll ever trust my father to be alone around him ever again. I didn't want to do this. I probably won't release the entire recording because it's too embarrassing that Im even dealing with this," it continued. "No matter what ppl think I pray my dad deals with his deep hatred toward me. I don't feel safe around him at all. This recording is recent it is not from 2018 just to clarify. Im going to learn from these experiences, live my life in peace and make beautiful art."

Kirk himself has addressed the reason behind saying inappropriate words to his son. A few days after the tape leaked, he spoke to Tamron Hall, "People have every right to be disappointed to hear me use that language, I'm disappointed in myself for using that language. And at the same time, I'm human. I'm a father, and I'm a father that has a son, and I have a history, I have a history of a toxic, challenging, turbulent relationship with a grown man now that I'm still trying to fight for."

"And in that fight it can become so difficult that my humanity, unfortunately that day, won. And I'm going to keep trying, while still continuing to admit that I am an imperfect man fighting to serve a perfect God," the singer added.
