The country music singer takes to social media to announce his 'decision to separate' from his wife while also revealing that they will be welcoming baby No. 3 later in 2023.

AceShowbiz - Not even a new child can save Jimmie Allen's marriage. The country music star has decided to call it quits with his wife Alexis Gale after only two years of marriage. In a statement posted on his social media account, he also revealed that they are currently expecting their third child together.

"After much thought and reflection in recent months, Lex & I have made the decision to separate," Jimmie posted on his Instagram page on Friday, April 21. "As we navigate this life change, we can also share that we will be welcoming another child together later this year."

"Our number one priority is and always will be ensuring that our children are healthy, happy and loved, and we remain committed to co-parenting with love and respect for one another," he continued. "In light of our growing family, we respectfully request privacy during this time."

Alexis posted the same statement to her own Instagram account. She also shared a cryptic message on her Story that read, "We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us."

Jimmie and Alexis began dating in 2019 after meeting through a relative in the spring of that year. By that summer, they got engaged. The couple formally tied the knot on May 27, 2021 at The Late House Inn in Perkasie, Penn., but later revealed to PEOPLE that they had held a secret, private ceremony one year prior on Jimmie's birthday in June 2020.

The now-estranged pair already share daughters Zara James, 17 months, and Naomi Bettie, 3. The 37-year-old singer is also father to son Aadyn from a previous relationship.

At the 2022 ACM Awards, Jimmie said he and his wife feel outnumbered by their kids. "Going from two to three is a big jump. It's cool, we love 'em and we're just definitely thankful for our kids," he admitted. He also ruled out the possibility of having another baby, saying, "Oh, I am done."

However, he later clarified his comments about "retiring" from having more kids in an episode of PEOPLE's podcast "PEOPLE Every Day". He said, "It was actually [Alexis'] idea. Cause when it comes to babies, you know guys, we got the fun part ... women gotta carry the baby. Give birth to the baby. And 'cause she's told [people] before she doesn't mind giving birth, it's the pregnancy part that's normally gonna be hard on her."

"But I'm cool if she's done. My jerseys are retired, but then we did talk about maybe in a couple years having another one, but we'll kind of just see. Whatever happens, happens," the "Best Shot" crooner added.
