The six-time NBA All-Star is taken into the Pierce County Jail in connection with a drive-by shooting incident at a parking lot outside a shopping mall in Tacoma, Washington.

AceShowbiz - A new detail surrounding Shawn Kemp' drive-by arrest has emerged. A new video that emerged on the Internet showed the former NBA player firing a gun before he's taken into police custody.

In footage obtained by TMZ on Wednesday, March 8, the 53-year-old former athlete could be seen firing a gun during an altercation at a parking lot outside a shopping mall in Tacoma, Washington. He fired the weapon at around 2 P.M.

Shawn, clad in a red vest, could be seen approaching a vehicle and pointing his firearm. The former Seattle SuperSonics star appeared to yell something before pulling the trigger at least once.

Witnesses told the news outlet that they heard multiple gunshots before pulling their phones out to record the incident. The eyewitnesses also claimed they saw Shawn driving around the parking lot and ditching his gun in a bush before talking to police.

Back to the video, at one point, Shawn appeared to attempt to flag down police to go after the other vehicle involved. Footage also showed cops searching the parking lot landscaping before retrieving a handgun from a bush.

Shawn was taken into the Pierce County Jail at around 6 P.M. Separate sources told Fox 13 that Shawn was attempting to retrieve items he claimed were stolen on Tuesday and once he tracked down the property on Wednesday afternoon, someone opened fire on him first.

In the meantime, the former athlete claimed he was purely acting out of self-defense. Interestingly, the six-time NBA All-Star was spotted touring a cannabis grow house just a few hours before the incident.

Shawn played 14 seasons in the league from 1989 to 2003, notably for the Seattle SuperSonics for his first eight years. Debuting one year out of high school, he was one of few players at that time to have been drafted without playing in college.

The star power forward helped Seattle to the 1996 NBA Finals, where the Sonics fell to the Chicago Bulls. He also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic.
