The 23-year-old jazz singer, who won two awards at the 65th Grammy Awards, reaches the top spot on multiple Billboard charts thanks to her second studio album, 'Linger Awhile'.

AceShowbiz - Samara Joy had a lot to celebrate this month. After winning two awards at the 65th Grammy Awards on February 5, the jazz singer led multiple Billboard charts thanks to her second studio album, "Linger Awhile".

The project, which was released in September 2022 via Verve Records, stole the No. 1 spot on Jazz Albums, Traditional Jazz Albums and Heatseekers Albums for the first time dated February 18. It also entered the Top 10 on the Top Album Sales and Top Current Album Sales charts and debuted at No. 158 on the Billboard 200.

Meanwhile, Samara's self-titled 2021 album landed at No. 7 on both Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums. As for the singer, she jumped high from No. 45 to No. 2 on Emerging Artists following her Grammy wins.

Samara was named Best New Artist at the 2023 Grammys, beating out the likes of Anitta, DOMi & JD BECK, Latto (Mulatto), Maneskin, Molly Tuttle, Muni Long, Omar Apollo, Tobe Nwigwe and Wet Leg. In addition, the "Guess Who I Saw Today" songstress took home a trophy for Best Jazz Vocal Album at this year's ceremony.

Despite her success, Samara admitted that she "did not grow up listening to jazz." She further told PEOPLE, "I started about six years ago now, but one of my favorite singers, one of my true pillars was Lalah Hathaway. I listened to her all the time. I was like, 'How she do that? How she get low, and then get high, and then in the middle with all the runs and stuff like that?' "

During the interview, Samara also revealed that she will put her trophies at her parents' home. "What's great about this is my parents were able to be here, so as soon as they heard my name, they stood up and was louder than everyone in the room," she explained. "So, I'm gonna put it up in their house because that's where it belongs."
