In an interview with British Vogue conducted ahead of her Super Bowl halftime show, the 'We Found Love' singer says that 'it'd be ridiculous' if her new album is not coming out 'this year.'

AceShowbiz - Rihanna apparently has the same desire as fans to release her new album as soon as possible. In an interview with British Vogue conducted ahead of her Super Bowl halftime show, the Grammy winner gave a more definite answer than she had before about when people can expect new music from her.

The singer, who is currently expecting her second child with A$AP Rocky, wants to release her new album in 2023. "I want it to be this year," she told the magazine, referring to her album's release date.

Apparently realizing that the wait is too long, the Barbadian beauty added, "Like, honestly, it'd be ridiculous if it's not this year. But I just want to have fun. I just want to make music and make videos."

The writer, however, noted that when Rihanna said it, she was "at this stage very much unaware she is pregnant again."

While it's been years since she released her last album "Anti" in 2016, Rihanna said she has not stopped recording music in the past few years. Comparing her music to clothes, she admitted that she couldn't release those songs because she's grown out of them. "[It's] almost like trying to dress like you used to dress. It's like, 'Ew, no. I would never wear those again.' Your taste changes, your vibe changes," she explained.

Calling "Anti" her "most brilliant album" to date, the "Diamonds" hitmaker also talked about the pressure to top her previous album. "I say that because in the moment, I didn't realize it. But it always felt like the most cohesive album I've ever made," she said of "Anti". "When you break it down and you realize this album goes from 'Work' to 'Kiss It Better' to 'Needed Me' to 'Love on the Brain' to 'Sex with Me' to 'Desperado' ... and somehow it all fits and not for a second did you glitch?"

"There's this pressure that I put on myself. That if it's not better than ['Anti'] then it is not even worth it," she went on sharing. "It's not the right way to look at music, because music is an outlet and a space to create, and you can create whatever. It doesn't have to even be on any scale. It just has to be something that feels good. It could just be a song that I like. It literally could be that simple."

In order to be able to complete her new record, Rihanna is attempting break through the "toxic" mindset. "I realized that if I keep waiting until this feels right and perfect and better, maybe it's going to keep taking forever and maybe it'll never come out and no, I'm not down to that," she said. "So I want to play. And by play, I mean I have my ideas in my head, but I can't say them out loud yet."
