What is more surprising from Netflix's unexpected move is that the streamer also removes the Jason Bateman-starring comedy show's season 4 and 5, which Netflix produces itself.

AceShowbiz - "Arrested Development" is leaving Netflix in March. The streaming giant is shockingly planning to remove all episodes of the beloved comedy, which stars Jason Bateman, as it will only be available on the platform until March 14.

What is more surprising from Netflix's unexpected move is that the streamer also removes the show's season 4 and 5, which Netflix produced itself. After running on FOX for three seasons, "Arrested Development" was canceled in 2006. Later in 2012, Netflix decided to renew the sitcom for two more seasons.

Season 4 of the show, which also stars David Cross, Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi and the late Jessica Walter, debuted in 2013 on Netflix. The fifth and final season arrived 5 years later as it was split into two parts premiering in 2018 and 2019.

Created by Mitch Hurwitz, "Arrested Development" followed a wealthy dysfunctional family, the Bluths. Season 5 included the big revelation that Tony Hale's Buster Bluth was actually responsible for the murder of Liza Minnelli's character Lucille Austero.

The first three seasons, which aired on FOX, are available to stream on Hulu, but seasons 4 and 5 have been exclusive to Netflix. Following the removal, it's unknown where fans can watch "Arrested Development".

Fans, however, still have hopes for it to remain on Netflix. Norwegian crime drama "Lilyhammer", which was billed Netflix's first-ever original, was announced to be leaving the service last year, but the series continues streaming following a licensing renewal at the last hour.

Meanwhile, this isn't the first time for Netflix to remove its own original content. Last year, all of its originally produced Marvel shows, including "Daredevil" and "Marvel's Jessica Jones", were pulled from the platform. However, it should be noted that they all moved to Disney+.

Netflix has yet to comment on the removal.
