The 50-year-old 'Being Mary Jane' actress, who is now married to Dwyane Wade, also believes that the criticism is an example of unequal gender expectations.

AceShowbiz - Gabrielle Union has finally addressed backlash over her recent remark about her past infidelity. The "L.A.'s Finest" alum, who came under fire for saying she was "entitled" to cheat on her first husband, Chris Howard, offered her response when speaking to Entertainment Tonight.

"If your gonna get your panties in a twist about something I've been talking about since 2005 -- in not one but two New York Times best-selling books -- at least listen to the whole thing," the 50-year-old said on Thursday, January 19 while rolling her eyes. "Just so you know where your anger actually is."

Gabrielle believes that the criticism is an example of unequal gender expectations. "I think people really felt anger that a woman would dare be just as dysfunctional as a man," she quipped. "Because that's what I called it. And stupid!"

Gabrielle made her controversial comment when appearing on the "Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard" podcast on January 2. She said her past relationship with the former NFL player was "just dysfunctional from day one."

Recalling her first marriage, the former "Being Mary Jane" star said that it was "such a stupid relationship that should never have gotten out of the dating phase." She added, "I definitely was not getting Wife of the Year Awards."

"In our first marriage, neither one of us felt like the marriage should get in the way of our dating," Gabrielle said, adding that she felt "entitled" to cheat following her then-husband's affair. The 50-year-old, who is now married to Dwyane Wade, explained, "I was like, 'Oh, that's what you're doing? You're gonna feel this one.' And I just felt entitled to it as well. I was paying all the bills, I was working my a** off, and I felt that's what comes, the spoils of riches."
