Set 40,000 years in the future during an endless war, the series, which is still in early development, is about the popular science-fiction fantasy miniature wargame.

AceShowbiz - News about Henry Cavill's possible next role after hanging his Superman cape for good has emerged. The Hollywood Reporter claims that the actor is heading to an Amazon series based on "Warhammer 40,000".

The series is about the popular science-fiction fantasy miniature wargame. It is set 40,000 years in the future where humans are locked in a never-ending war with aliens and magical beings.

The humans make up the Imperium of Man, who are militaristic. A race of skeleton-like androids are known as the Necron. There is also an elvish race known as Aeldari as well as Orks, nasty aliens are called Tyranids, while T'au is a blue-skinned alien race that may offer some hope.

As the series is still in early development, no writers have been attached just yet. The news outlet also states that the streaming platform is in final talks to lock down the rights to the game following a lengthy bidding war.

Henry is best known for his role as Clark Kent/Superman in "Man of Steel and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice". On Wednesday, December 14, the 39-year-old confirmed that he wouldn't reprise the role for future DC/WB movies.

"I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it's sad news, everyone," he said in a statement posted on his social media account. "I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life."

The British star added, "The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes."

In the statement, Henry also told fans that it's okay to "mourn for a bit, but then we must remember.... Superman is still around. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there!" He continued, "My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will. It's been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards."
