During an appearance on 'The Breakfast Club', the 'What's Luv?' hitmaker claims she once found herself in a 'crazy' situation, in which a producer tried to force her into sex as payment for studio recordings.

AceShowbiz - Ashanti has accused a music producer of predatory behavior. Having worked for over two decades in the industry, the R&B artist has claimed that an unnamed producer once held two of her tracks ransom in exchange for shower sex.

"I've been in a crazy situation with one producer," Ashanti said during an appearance on "The Breakfast Club" on Thursday, December 1, without naming the person. "I think I might have talked about this once."

The 42-year-old explained she had been working with the anonymous music producer for several weeks after he offered to help produce the songs for free because she was a "homie." She said, "We did two records together. He was like 'OK, I'm not going to charge you. You're my homie.' "

However, "when it came time to put it on the album, he was like, 'Let's take a shower together,' " Ashanti recalled. At first, she didn't take it seriously. "As I thought he was joking," she continued. "He was like, 'Nah, I'm dead serious. Let's go out, let's take a shower together and then I'll give you the records. If not, I need 40 racks per record.' "

"I thought he was joking, because we had been working together for a couple weeks. But it turns out that he was serious. I had to make some phone calls and stuff was handled," the "Foolish" singer claimed. "It was wild."

When Charlamagne tha God noted that he initially didn't want to bring that up on the show, Ashanti stressed the need to speak up. "at this point ... 20 years" in the industry and given "where we are in social media and what we're doing to progressively grow in this industry," she said, "I feel like just for a woman, I had to come out and just say my piece." She added, "At some point, you have just to speak up. And that's what I did."

Ashanti first told the story in 2018 on SiriusXM's "Conversations with Maria Menounos". She was asked about #MeToo in the music industry, to which she replied, "Unfortunately, these things definitely happen."

"I've come across a situation where there was a certain producer that, you know, he had his little crush or whatever, but it wasn't anything new, you know?" she shared. "Going into the session and recording, it was all good, and once I said 'No,' all of the sudden the track became $45,000."

Thankfully, Ashanti was able to get both the two records and an additional one for free, thanks to her "really cool, scary big brothers," whom she said she's "blessed" to have. "I had to call in the reinforcements," she quipped.
