AceShowbiz - Miles Bridges is facing legal trouble. The NBA star has been charged with felony counts of domestic violence and child abuse after he allegedly hit his wife Mychelle Johnson in front of their kids.
The Charlotte Hornets forward was hit with the charges in Los Angeles on Tuesday, July 19. According to the prosecutors, he allegedly attacked his spouse in front of their two children on June 27 and 28 at a Los Angeles home. He's charged with one felony count of injuring a child's parent and two felony counts of child abuse.
"Domestic violence creates physical, mental and emotional trauma that has a lasting impact on survivors," Los Angeles District Attorney Gascon said in a statement after announcing the charges. "Children who witness family violence are especially vulnerable and the impact on them is immeasurable. Mr. Bridges will be held accountable for his actions and our Bureau of Victim Services will support the survivors through this difficult process."
Miles was hit with the charges after his wife Mychelle shared on her Instagram Story some disturbing photos of her injuries in the aftermath of the alleged attack. She later explained that she decided to speak out about the incident because she doesn't "want this happening to anyone else."
"I hate that it has come to this but I can't be silent anymore," Mychelle, who's been with Miles since at least 2016 and shares two young children with him, said. She went on stressing, "I've allowed someone to destroy my home, abuse me in every way possible and traumatize our kids for life."
On June 29, a day after the alleged physical altercation, police were called to a home in Los Angeles after the couple allegedly got into an argument that turned violent. Miles was no longer at the location when cops arrived but he turned himself in the following day and was released from jail on a $130,000 bail.
