AceShowbiz - South African entertainment industry is mourning the death of one of its best talents. Busi Lurayi, who was best known for her role on Netflix's series "How to Ruin Christmas" actress, has suddenly passed away.
In a statement released by her agency on Monday, July 11, it was revealed that the actress was found dead at her home on Sunday, July 10. The cause of death is currently unknown pending autopsy results. She was in her mid-30s.
"We are deeply saddened to notify you of the passing of our beloved Busisiwe Lurayi," read the statement which was released via Instagram. "Busisiwe passed away suddenly and was pronounced dead at her residence on Sunday [July 10, 2022] by medical personnel."
"The reason for her death is still unknown as we await the results of the autopsy report," the statement continued. "We humbly request that you allow us as the family to come to terms with this tragic news."
"We thank you for the support that has been given so far and will provide further information as soon as it has been made available," they added. Eyes Media Agency captioned the post, "Rest In peace @busi_lurayi."
Busi's friends and fans took to the comment section of Eyes Media Agency's post as well as the late star's last Instagram post to express their grief. "Haaaaaa my sister," one person wrote. Another bawled, "Noooooooooooo this is the worst news was not expecting this how to ruin Christmas will never be the same without you Busi."
"Peace and Restoration to your family," a third said. Another shocked fan admitted, "Busi. I am not okay. Not okay at all." An apparent friend of the star lamented, "Nooooooo I can't we just spoke last week and now this Lord please nooo!!" while another shared, "I'm in utter shock."
Netflix South Africa also mourned her death. "An incredible light has gone out in the South African entertainment industry. We are deeply saddened by the passing of award-winning stage & screen actor Busi Lurayi," the said in a statement. "We will hold onto the laughs, the beauty & the moments of joy she brought us. #RIPBusiLurayi #HowToRuinChristmas."
Busi starred on "How to Ruin Christmas", a South African comedy that follows Tumi Sello (Busi) who attempted to right her wrongs after ruining her sister's Christmas wedding, along with Thando Thabethe and Yonda Thomas. She returned in the second season titled "How to Ruin Christmas: The Funeral". She also appeared in episodes of "ER" and South African sitcom "City Ses'la".
