The 'Goosebumps' rapper, via his spokesperson, finds the accusations that he checked fans' safety only for the press 'despicable' and calls it a 'cynical height of hypocrisy.'

AceShowbiz - Travis Scott (II) is defending himself. The "Goosebumps" rapper has slammed a lawyer representing Astroworld victim Ezra Blount after he was accused of staging a safety check during his show in New York City.

"This is the despicable, cynical height of hypocrisy," the 31-year-old hip-hop star's representative said in a statement to TMZ on Thursday, July 7. "It's beyond disappointing to see that -- in a desperate bid to influence potential jurors -- the plaintiffs' legal team is criticizing Travis for pausing Monday's Coney Island show to ensure that fans can have fun safely."

"This is exactly the wrong message to send to fans -- and to artists," added the spokesperson. "And it completely ignores the fact that Travis also stopped his performance at Astroworld three different times."

However, Alex Hilliard, who represents Ezra's family, evidently saw things differently. He said it did nothing to prove that Travis was suddenly "compassionate." The attorney told the outlet earlier that day, "[Travis] knows exactly how to keep his fans safe during a concert, but the problem with that is he didn't just learn about the fact that he has control over the entire crowd."

"There are 10 people that would still be alive today, including young Ezra Blount, if Travis realized his responsibility as an artist goes further than just trying to rile up his crowds, and it reemphasizes the rule of 'if you see something say something,' " added the lawyer.

Ezra's family is suing Travis and Live Nation for at least $1 million after the 9-year-old was killed during a crowd surge at Travis' Astroworld Festival in Houston last November.

On July 4, Travis joined the Coney Art Walls' lineup for their Independence Day event, "The Day Party July 4 with Meek Mill". At one moment, the "SICKO MODE" spitter stopped his "Antidote" performance to order fans to get down and stop climbing a lighting truss by the stage.

"We need you all to get down, we need you all to get down. Hey yo my bro, my brother, just make sure you're ok down there. You hear me?" Travis could be heard telling his fans in a clip obtained by TMZ. Before he restarted his set, he told the crowd, "If everybody ok let me get a 'hell yeah.' If everybody wanna party let me get a 'hell yeah.' "
