Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy return as the Sanderson sisters, who are set to wreak havoc in present-day Salem after being resurrected by teen students.

AceShowbiz - Halloween is still months away, but Walt Disney Studios has given a look at what it has to offer in the upcoming spooky season. The studio has unleashed the first teaser trailer for the long-awaited "Hocus Pocus" sequel, offering a glimpse at the return of the bewitching trio.

Set in present-day Salem, the teaser for "Hocus Pocus 2" shows teen students who cast some spell under the full moon. Much to their surprise, they awaken the Sanderson sisters, who are now ready to steal the spotlight.

According to the official synopsis, "It's been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow's Eve."

The live-action sequel to the perennial Halloween classic promises to bring back the delightfully wicked Sanderson sisters for more comedic mayhem. It reunites Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy who reprise their roles as Winnie, Sarah and Mary respectively.

Directed by Anne Fletcher and written by Jen D'Angelo, it also stars Doug Jones ("The Shape of Water"), Whitney Peak ("Gossip Girl"), Lilia Buckingham ("Dirt"), Belissa Escobedo ("American Horror Stories"), Hannah Waddingham ("Ted Lasso"), Tony Hale ("Veep"), Sam Richardson ("The Tomorrow War", "Good Boys"), Juju Brener ("Vanquish"), Froy Gutierrez ("Teen Wolf"), Taylor Paige Henderson and Nina Kitchen.

Hale told Variety in December that he plays two characters in the film, an "evil reverend" and a mayor. "Another surreal experience. That movie is a Halloween classic, and meeting Bette, and Sarah Jessica and Kathy Najimy, who was on 'Veep' with me... it was really fun," he gushed.

The movie is produced by Lynn Harris, with Ralph Winter, David Kirschner and Adam Shankman serving as executive producers. The fantasy comedy horror film is slated to be released on Disney+ on September 30.
