True to his eccentric style, the Yeezy designer covers up his face with a mask and hood while paying tribute to the Lifetime Achievement Award honoree, Diddy, at the show.

AceShowbiz - Kanye West was able to poke fun at his failed marriage to Kim Kardashian at the 2022 BET Awards. Making a surprise and unannounced appearance to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, he jokingly blamed the latter for his divorce from the reality TV star.

True to his eccentric style, Ye showed up in a mask, a gray hooded jacket with a matching cap and sunglasses which covered his face. He then mentioned his and Diddy's "wife choices," noting that both women were named Kim.

"I go to [Diddy] for advice to this day," the "Off the Grid" emcee said. "He inspires so many of my choices. So many of my life choices. My wife choices. And here we are - thanks for that, Puff," he added with a chuckle, making the audience crack up.

Calling Diddy his "favorite" artist, Ye also explained how the Bad Boy Records founder inspired him. "How do we crown our kings? How do we appreciate our kings? To think how far we could just make it off of inspiration," he gushed. "This is my favorite artist. You see what I'm saying? Favorite artist. Everything. Not specifically production, the drip. You know back then it was so many rules to hip hop. He broke all of them. Broke down all the doors."

"This man has survived a lot of stuff and broke down a lot of doors so we could be here today," the Atlanta native went on raving about the New York City star. "He broke down so many doors about classism, taste, culture, swag. Puff, if I never told you…I love you."

Taking the stage to accept the award, Diddy said in his own speech, "First of all, I want to thank god. God, thank you so much. Never leaving my side, keeping me in my purpose, keeping me godly, lifting me up off the ground." He went on to thank his mother, as well as "every artist, every producer, every writer, and every executive I had a chance to work. Thank you to all of my fans who have been with me for over 25 years. I love y'all. I love y'all."
