Less than a week after Britney suffered a miscarriage, Sam made use of his Instagram Story to announce that he would not be attending the annual film festival. "Couldn't make it to Cannes Film Festival this year," the 28-year-old personal trainer stated in the since-expired Wednesday, May 18 Story, "Personal life and family come first, always. See you next year."

A few days before, on Monday, May 16, the actor gave an update via Instagram Story on how he and Britney were doing since the unfortunate miscarriage. "We have felt your support," he wrote, thanking fans for their support, "We are taking things positively and moving forward with our future. It's hard, but we are not alone. Thank you for respecting our privacy."

Sam and Britney shared that they had lost their unborn baby on Saturday, May 14. The news came a little over a month after the two announced that the "Toxic" hitmaker had a bun in the oven. Making use of their Instagram accounts, the couple shared a joint message regarding the situation.

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy," the pair's joint caption read. "This is a devastating time for any parent.
