The former star of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' admits she had to forgo 'carbs and sugar' to lose weight to fir into the iconic dress for the fashion's big night out.

AceShowbiz - Kim Kardashian was almost stopped from wearing Marilyn Monroe's dress to the Met Gala. "The Kardashians" star wore the original gown, which was worn by the late movie legend to serenade U.S. President John F. Kennedy back in 1962, to pose in front of photographers at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 2, but an initial fitting at the dress's home at Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum "didn't go well."
"They met in March for a fitting but it didn't go well - both Kim and the Ripley reps weren't happy with how it fit her, and the museum denied its use," a source told TMZ. "Remember, the dress is 60 years old so the fabric and seams needed to be handled gently."
The insider went on to explain that the 41-year-old megastar, who changed into a replica of the multi-million dollar frock shortly after posing for the cameras, returned to the museum a month later after losing some weight and the dress was a "better fit."
"Kim came back to Ripleys a month later, after shedding some weight and it was a better fit," the source added.
The SKIMS founder, who has 8-year-old North, 6-year-old Saint, 4-year-old Chicago and 2-year-old Psalm with her ex-husband Kanye West but is currently dating "Saturday Night Live" star Pete Davidson, claimed that she had to forgo "carbs and sugar" in order to lose just over a stone to fit into the iconic piece.
"I had this idea to try it on and then they came with armed guards and gloves. I tried it on and it didn't fit me. I said, 'Give me three weeks.' I had to lose 16 pounds down today," she said. "It was such a challenge. It was like a [movie] role. I was determined to fit [into] it. I haven't had carbs or sugar in about three weeks."
