The vice president contracts the coronavirus after she returned from a weeklong trip to California and just weeks after she received her second booster shot.

AceShowbiz - Kamala Harris has tested positive for COVID-19. When confirming her coronavirus diagnosis on social media, the vice president revealed that she experienced "no symptoms."

The 57-year-old shared the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, April 26. "Today I tested positive for COVID-19. I have no symptoms, and I will continue to isolate and follow CDC guidelines. I'm grateful to be both vaccinated and boosted," she tweeted.

Kirsten Allen, press secretary to the Vice President, said in an earlier statement that Harris tested positive for COVID on rapid and PCR tests. The statement continued, "She has exhibited no symptoms, will isolate and continue to work from the Vice President's residence."

"She has not been a close contact to the President or First Lady due to their respective recent travel schedules," the message further read. "She will follow CDC guidelines and the advice of her physicians. The Vice President will return to the White House when she tests negative."

Harris contracted the virus after she returned from a weeklong trip to California. She traveled with some staff members, including deputy chief of staff Mike Fuchs and national security adviser Phil Gordon.

It remains unknown whether the staff members stayed in California with Harris through the duration of her trip. Regardless, a White House official decalred that contact tracing is underway.

The diagnosis also came just weeks after the vice president received her second booster shot. "Yesterday I received my second COVID-19 booster shot. We know that getting vaccinated is the best form of protection from this virus and boosters are critical in providing an additional level of protection. If you haven't received your first booster-do it today," she announced earlier this month.

Harris reportedly has spoken to President Joe Biden over the phone on Tuesday. "He wanted to check in and make sure she has everything she needs as she quarantines at home," a White House statement to reporters said.
