AceShowbiz - August Alsina has set the record straight on his new song "Shake the World". The "Ghetto" singer has responded to social media critics who accused him of alluding to that infamous "entanglement" with Jada Pinkett Smith in his new track.
Making use of his Twitter account on Tuesday, April 5, the 29-year-old reacted to online trolls who criticized his new single. "@AugustAlsina Boy that new song [trash emoji] This is a bad look. You're not a victim in this. You made a DECISION to sleep with another man's WIFE," one user tweeted, to which he replied, "I feel for you and your ancestors brother. Cus u ain't nevaaaaa had to lie this hard. U know that s**t hard boy! S**t put u in a hypnosis soon as it drop! Cus Got Dammit 'I shake the wurrrrrrrl.' "
A separate person believed that August was trying to seek attention as Jada and her husband Will Smith made headlines lately due to the "King Richard" actor's Oscars slap. In response, the "I Luv This S**t" crooner wrote, "EYE (I) love attention? Yet you're here and my name is dragged into stuff I got nothing to do with? Make it make sense.. if y'all love to put your attention on me, just say det."
Another Twitter user said that August didn't "NEED to be doing THIS" as he's "actually talented" and what he's doing was "s**t." August then clapped back, "No Need to remind me of being talented, God gifted me that! I'm STILL talking about MY life in my music and Yal got a problem! BE MAD! Black Twitter is the new age slave owners! But Yal don't own me! & u go stay mad about it."
Many believed that August mentioned his romance with Jada in the 2 minute-long track which was released on Monday, April 4. In the song, he sings, "Well, of course some s**t is bound to go down when you tangled up with the world's favorite."
August also mentions being "canceled" in the song, which was likely about the reaction he got when Jada confessed to the extramarital affair on her show "Red Table Talk" back in July 2020. "I heard I was canceled. Well, let's not speak on that. Red dot on my back, I became a target. And I'm flawed by flawless, that's what makes me August," he croons.
The infamous "entanglement" happened when Jada was secretly separated from Will. August first revealed the relationship to the public in June 2020 and claimed that Will approved of the affair.
Jada and Will then addressed the matter on "Red Table Talk". At the time, the "Girls Trip" actress explained that she "just wanted to feel good." As for August, he later admitted that he still has "deep respect" for the couple and that his relationship with the pair is not "broken."
