AceShowbiz - "Bridgerton" has treated fans to some first-look photos for its much-anticipated season two. Unveiled on Wednesday, January 19, the new pictures see most stars returning to Netflix's Regency drama in addition to introducing new characters.
One picture features Jonathan Bailey's Lord Anthony Bridgerton and newcomer Simone Ashley's Kate Sharma dancing in the ballroom as he is set to find a suitable wife. Also featured in new pictures are returning actresses Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington a.k.a. Lady Whistledown, and Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise Bridgerton.
In a new Instagram post, Nicola teased, "Lady Whistledown has some things to say…."
Another picture sees Phoebe Dynevor reprising her role as Daphne Basset, which has become a supporting character in the new season. She can be seen having what seems to be a serious talk with her brother Anthony. Her story is one of the things that fans are curious about after Rege-Jean Page, who plays her husband Simon Basset], exits the show after one season.
The sophomore season of "Bridgerton" will be focusing on Anthony's love story with Kate after he broke off his affair with opera singer Sienna in order to uphold his familial obligations as the head of the Bridgerton household.
Anthony was originally trying to pursue Kate's sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran), who moves to the Ton after coming from India. Kate becomes protective over her younger sister after she realizes that love isn't really what Anthony is looking for. The banter between Anthony and Kate, however, only takes them to an unexpected direction.
Also starring newcomers Calam Lynch, Shelley Conn and Rupert Young, season 2 of "Bridgerton" is set to premiere on March 25 on Netflix.
