After opening up about her fractured relationship with Britney Spears, the 'Zoey 101' alum reveals that it's important for her to set the 'boundaries' as she 'fought' and 'worked' very hard to build her life.

AceShowbiz - Jamie Lynn Spears has opened up more about her relationship with her complicated family. In a new issue of PEOPLE, the "Zoey 101" alum revealed that she had to "separate" herself from her big family for her new family's sake.

"It was really important for me to separate myself from my family to focus on the family I've created, which is me, my husband and my daughters," the 30-year-old actress/author told the outlet on Wednesday, January 12. She further noted that "setting those boundaries in place was really important."

Jamie Lynn, who shares 13-year-old Maddie and 3-year-old Ivey with husband Jamie Watson, went on to explain, "I am not my family. I am my own person. I fought very hard and worked very hard to establish myself and to build the life that I have today." The "Sweet Magnolias" actress then admitted, "No family is perfect."

Elsewhere during the interview, Jamie Lynn also briefly weighed in on her strained relationship with her sister Britney Spears. She said, "I've only ever tried to be helpful, so any notion that says the contrary is just completely ridiculous."

Prior to her interview with the outlet, Jamie Lynn broke down in tears during her first TV interview since Britney's conservatorship ended. When talking about her fractured relationship with the "...Baby One More Time" singer, she told Juju Chang in the Wednesday episode of "Good Morning America" that her love for her older sister "is still there, 100 percent."

"I love my sister," Jamie Lynn added. The "Things I Should Have Said" author stressed, "I've only ever loved and supported her and done what's right by her and she knows that. So I don't know why we're in this position right now."

Jamie Lynn said she tried to help Britney get access to resources to help end her conservatorship. "I've always been my sister's biggest supporter, so when she needed help, I set up ways to do so," the former child star claimed.

"[I] went out of my way to make sure that she had the contacts she needed to possibly go ahead and end this conservatorship and just end this all for our family," Jamie Lynn candidly shared. "If it's going to cause this much discord, why continue it?"

Jamie Lynn has been scrutinized after Britney publicly called out their family for the pain they caused to her during her conservatorship battle. Recently, Britney unfollowed Jamie Lynn on Instagram. Though so, Jamie Lynn still follows her sibling.
