Jalen Rose and ESPN Host Molly Qerim Getting Divorced

The former NBA player says in a statement that he and his estranged wife have separated for almost a year before deciding to legally end their now-three-year marriage.

AceShowbiz - Jalen Rose will soon be back on the market. The former NBA player and his wife Molly Qerim are calling it quits after three years of marriage. He confirmed the news on social media on Wednesday, December 8 after news broke about the estranged couple getting divorced.

In a statement released on his Twitter account and Instagram Story, the professional athlete-turned-sports analyst revealed they had been separated for almost a year before they decided to legally end their marriage. "After being separated for almost a year, Molly and I have officially decided to go our separate ways," he wrote.

Hinting that their split is amicable, he added, "We both agree remaining friends and colleagues is the best course of action for our relationship moving forward. Please respect our privacy at this time." Molly has not publicly addressed their separation.

Jalen released the statement after TMZ reported that he filed for divorce from Molly earlier this year. According to the site, he filed the papers on April 30, just months after he and the ESPN host starred in a Gatorade commercial together.

In court documents obtained by the outlet, he claims that their marriage broke down irretrievably after Molly moved to Connecticut. He additionally says in the paper that Jalen does not want alimony and that the "First Take" host doesn't want Molly to have it either. The estranged couple reportedly doesn't have a prenup and Molly doesn't want any spousal support.

There have been signs of their breakup as Molly recently dropped "Rose" from her name on Instagram and Twitter, and they have not posted each other on their pages for months. The pair also have not been seen together in the months leading up to the filing.

However, Molly has shown public support for Jalen after he filed the divorce papers. In June, spoke out about his struggles with deaths in the family in an emotional segment on "First Take".
