AceShowbiz - Singer Shawn Mendes will never forget the "beautiful" times he spent with now-ex-girlfriend Camila Cabello and her family in Florida during the COVID lockdowns.

The couple split earlier this month (November 2021) after two years together, announcing they will continue as friends.

"I spent most of the pandemic in Miami with Camila and her family, it was beautiful, truly so special," the "Treat You Better" hitmaker told Rollacoaster Magazine in an interview that may have been conducted before the breakup.

"I often go back to look at photos and the simplicity of that time, we were lucky. It was nice. We were making dinner, just doing normal things. The Latin culture is also just so beautiful, so being able to immerse myself in that culture is always really healing."

The Canadian singer-songwriter added that he and Camila "joyfully" rode bikes around her neighborhood.

Earlier this month (November 2021), Shawn and Camila shared a joint statement to Instagram that read, "Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward."

Before shocking fans with news of the split, Camila opened up in an interview that her anxiety took a toll on her relationship. "I felt so anxious, cripplingly anxious. I just felt really unstable, and I just felt a mess because suddenly, this thing that was distracting me, my work and filming, was not there," she said in an interview on the Time to Walk app on Apple Fitness+.

"And so I was just left with my anxiety and my mind," the 24-year-old continued sharing. "And it was getting in the way of my relationship. It was getting in the way of my friendships, my time at home."
