The popular YouTube creator has recreated the South Korean Netflix hit series, involving over 400 random people and spending more than $3 million on the video.

AceShowbiz - YouTube star MrBeast has launched his own "Squid Game In Real Life!" video game, offering up $456,000 (£342,000) for the winner.

Inspired by the hit South Korean Netflix drama series, in which fictitious contestants try to survive death playing children's games, MrBeast's new online initiative has racked up over 61 million views in a day.

The YouTuber, real name Jimmy Donaldson, uploaded his "$456,000 Squid Game In Real Life!" video on Thursday (25Nov21), and it's already number one on the trending charts on the platform.

Donaldson claims he has spent $3.5 million (£2.6 million) on the video.

On Instagram, the YouTube personality told his online devotees that he "recreated Squid Game in real life with 456 random people!"

Meanwhile, the original "Squid Game" has been picked up for season 2.

"There's been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season," creator/director Hwang Dong-hyuk said. "So I almost feel like you leave us no choice! But I will say, there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently. But I do think it's too early to say when and how it's going to happen. So I will promise you this... Gi-Hun (character) will come back, he'll do something for the world."

In a later interview, he teased what to expect from the upcoming sophomore installment. He planned to explore "the issue with police officers."

"I think the issue with police officers is not just an issue in Korea," he explained. "I see it on the global news that the police force can be very late on acting on things-there are more victims or a situation gets worse because of them not acting fast enough. This was an issue that I wanted to raise. Maybe in season two I can talk about this more."
