The record producer, who is the CEO and co-founder of Murder Inc., lashes out at the Grammy-winning artist after she opens up about the importance of owning her own music.

AceShowbiz - Irv Gotti is clearly not pleased that Ashanti is re-recording her debut album. After the singer made the announcement, the record producer took to social media to slam the "Ashanti" artist for "trying to f**k me out of my masters."

Ashanti talked about the importance of owning her own music when speaking to Angie Martinez. After the radio personality shared a clip from the interview on Instagram, Irv commented, "@angiemartinez just for super clarity, I own all those great Ashanti Albums Angie. I own the masters and I produced all those great Ashanti Albums. So I also own a good portion of the Publishing."

"What she is trying to do is re record all those great records and put them out on her label. She can do this under the COVER laws. But she is basically trying to f**k me out of my Masters," Irv further argued. "And make people decide which album to listen too or stream."

Irv went on to claim that Ashanti is hoping her "loyal fans" listen to her re-recorded album instead of the original one. "Hoping her loyal fans will choose her version," he said. "But hey, I stand on the magic that was created. And I wanna see her duplicate that magic. It's f**ked up really. But such is life."

Ashanti first revealed that she's recording her Grammy-winning self-titled album in September. "The fact that I'll be able to re-record my album and put everything together is such a blessing, I am grateful. The fact that we are still here and living through a pandemic and these blessings are still coming in makes me so humbled," she gushed when appearing on the "Tamron Hall Show".

"Ashanti, which included the hit singles "Foolish", "Happy" and "Baby", was released in 2002. It sold six million copies worldwide and led the singer to be nominated for three Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best Contemporary R&B Album, the latter of which she took home.
