The Little Mix member has been lauded for discussing her experience with racism in the music industry in a television documentary special titled 'Rape, Pop and Power'.

AceShowbiz - New mum Leigh-Anne Pinnock has been honoured with a major award for her TV special, in which she explored racism in the music industry.

The BBC documentary "Rape, Pop & Power" aired in May (21) and the Little Mix singer was feted for the expose at Friday's (12Nov21) Ethnicity Awards.

Pinnock accepted the Media Progress Moment prize, insisting her fight to shine a light on racism has only just begun.

"The hard work doesn't stop here!" she said. "This is an incredible award and I want to thank my amazing fans who are so supportive and inspire me everyday to wake up and keep fighting for change."

"Thank you for the amazing contributors to the documentary who shared their stories - the film would be nothing without you."

She added, "Before we (Little Mix) even signed a record deal things began to feel a bit off. On The X Factor, when they dyed my hair red and shaved it, it made me look like 'the Rihanna'. I was 20 at the time and I guess a bit naive. Looking back, it was clear my colour was being used to define my image within the group. Those things when I think back to it, I'm just like 'Wow...' I don't want the next girl in pop to feel like how I've felt. This is just the beginning. I'm a fighter."

Other Ethnicity Awards winners included model Naomi Campbell (Inspirational Public Figure) and Arlo Parks (Music Artist).
