Jamie Lynn Spears Aims to Help Those Who 'Forgot Their Worth' With New Tell-All Book
Celebrity

When sharing the artwork of 'Things I Should Have Said', the younger sister of Britney Spears claims that the memoir gave her closure on 'this 30 year long chapter' of her life.

AceShowbiz - Jamie Lynn Spears is pressing on with her memoir plans, despite her big sister's ongoing conservatorship battle.

The former child star will release "Things I Should Have Said" later this year (2021), and promises fans an open-book look at her life in and out of the spotlight. She explains her daughter Maddie's near-death experience in 2017 put a lot of things in perspective for her and she started to write the tome.

"I felt a strong conviction to share my story, but there was a lot of personal work and healing that had to happen before I could share my truth the proper way," Jamie Lynn writes on Instagram beneath a shot of the book cover artwork.

"I've spent my whole life believing that I had to pretend to be perfect, even when I wasn't, so for the first time I am opening up about my own mental health, because this process challenged me to have to be painfully honest with myself, and face a lot of hard things, that I normally would have just glossed right over, like I was taught to."

"I owe it to myself, my younger self, and to my daughters to be an example that you should never edit yourself or your truth to please anyone else."

She admits the book gave her closure on "this 30 year long chapter of my life" and she hopes her story will help others "who forgot their worth, lost their voice" or are "trying to break an unhealthy cycle in their life."

A portion of the book's proceeds will benefit mental illness charity This is My Brave.
