When speaking to his daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger, the 'Terminator' actor tells her that he had made an 'unbelievable attempt to make [her and her siblings] grow up normal.'

AceShowbiz - Arnold Schwarzenegger might have a great time during his tenure as Governor of California, but not his children. When sitting down with his daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger, the "Terminator" actor divulged that his children "hated" his job.
The 73-year-old shared his story on his daughter's Instagram show called "Before, During and After Baby". He first explained, "I think it is very important to let everyone know how much you kids hated my job."
"It was one of those kind of odd things where I just thought that: 'Oh, my kids will be so proud of me being governor now,' and all this stuff, but I don't think that you guys really kind of connected with that," he continued. "I think you were so used to what we were doing when I was on a movie set."
The former Republican governor, who was in office from 2003 to 2011, confessed he had "a fixation about fixing the state and making the state better. And so that's why I ran from one moment to the other when there was a recall." Unfortunately, his kids were not pleased with the idea, prompting the family to move to Sacramento.
"When you went to Sacramento, I remember you saying, 'Dad, I hate your job,' " he told Katherine, who then burst into laughter. "And I said, 'Why do you hate my job?' and you said, 'Everyone around here is running around in a stupid black suit and a tie and you all look so serious. It was much more fun on a movie set... Why did you take us out of this fun? Why did you change?' "
Despite the presence of chauffeurs and security guards, Katherine claimed that she and her siblings "had a very normal childhood." Agreeing on her statements, Arnold chimed in, "We made an unbelievable attempt to make you guys grow up normal."
The former body builder went on to compliment ex-wife Maria Shriver for her support as a working mother and political confidant. "I give your mother the credit for that, because she grew up privileged... She knew how to safeguard and protect you all," he noted.
Arnold was married to Maria from 1986 to 2017. In addition to Katherine, they share three other children, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Christopher Schwarzenegger and Christina Schwarzenegger.
