The former 'Power' star has reportedly submitted the divorce papers in New York nearly two years after being reported to live apart from the NBA star since their first split in 2017.

AceShowbiz - La La Anthony has taken a step to make her separation from Carmelo Anthony legal. After being reported to live apart from the NBA star in 2019 since their first split in 2017, the former "Power" star finally filed for a divorce.
The "Think Like A Man" actress, per TMZ report, submitted the legal documents in New York on Thursday, June 17. It was also said that she cited irreconcilable differences. Multiple sources informed the outlet that the 41-year-old TV personality has been separated from the professional basketballer for a while, but remained friends.
The sources also described the divorce as "amicable." Both La La and Carmelo reportedly wanted to take time to ensure a private and smooth transition in their relationship for their 14-year-old son, Kiyan Carmelo Anthony. The two were also said to remain fully aligned as parenting partners.
The estranged couple, who got engaged in 2004 before tying the knot later in 2017, has been on and off since first splitting in April 2017 following the Portland Trail Blazers athlete's multiple cheating rumors. They reunited in late 2018 after their initial separation announcement.
Then in July 2019, they were reportedly living apart as La La sought legal guidance on how to move forward with the relationship. "As La La and Carmelo have been living apart for quite some time, La La is proceeding with legal discussions as the next step in their relationship," a representative for "The Chi" actress said in a statement at the time.
However, in early 2020, La La appeared to be back on good terms with Carmelo as they quarantined together to co-parent their son Kiyan. Speaking of parenting their son together during an interview, the "La La's Full Court Life" star said, "My son is at the center of everything. He is watching us, so if we're out here being reckless or not leading with love, then what kind of example are we setting for him about how he should treat women or how people treat and love each other?"
