The former president likens the investigation into possible tax evasion and other crimes related to the Trump org's business affairs to 'witch hunt' as a grand jury is ready to hear evidence and determine potential criminal charges.

AceShowbiz - Donald Trump has ripped prosecutors after it's reported that a grand jury is convened in criminal probe into his organization. The former president released a statement on Tuesday night, May 25 in response to the news that a grand jury is ready to hear evidence and determine potential criminal charges against the Trump Organization.

"This is a continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt in American history," he began his statement posted on his personal blog. "It began the day I came down the escalator in Trump Tower, and it's never stopped. They wasted two years and $48 million in taxpayer dollars on Mueller and Russia Russia Russia, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and it continues to this day, with illegally leaked confidential information."

Claiming he "had done a great job for our Country" during his time in the office, he raged, "No other President in history has had to put up with what I have had to." He alleged that the probe "is purely political" and is "being driven by highly partisan Democrat prosecutors."

"New York City and State are suffering the highest crime rates in their history, and instead of going after murderers, drug dealers, human traffickers, and others, they come after Donald Trump," the former POTUS went on stressing.

He suggested that the investigation is an effort to ruin his chance in the 2024 presidential election, saying, "Interesting that today a poll came out indicating I'm far in the lead for the Republican Presidential Primary and the General Election in 2024."

The 74-year-old then concluded his statement as declaring, "Our Country is broken, our elections are rigged, corrupt, and stolen, our prosecutors are politicized, and I will just have to keep on fighting like I have been for the last five years!"

The Washington Post earlier reported that Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance has convened a grand jury to hear evidence and weigh potential criminal charges for tax evasion and other crimes related to the Trump org's business affairs. The grand jury will reportedly sit for 3 days a week over the next 6 months.

The investigation was triggered by testimony by Michael Cohen, Trump's onetime personal attorney, before Congress. He claimed that the real estate mogul inflated the value of his financial assets to get more favorable loan conditions.
