Alongside a picture of TJ, the former NFL star gives fans an update on the health of his 8-year-old son who has been battling a rare heart condition which may force him to get a heart transplant.

AceShowbiz - Greg Olsen is expressing his feelings in a new Instagram post amid his son's battle with serious heart issues. Taking to the photo-sharing platform, the former NFL star gave fans an update on the health of his 8-year-old son TJ.

Alongside a picture of TJ, Greg wrote on Monday, May 24, "This past week has been exceptionally challenging for our family." He went on to say, "As many of you know, our son TJ has faced serious heart issues since birth. TJ has already undergone 3 open heart surgeries and has survived with a modified heart for his first 8 years."

He then broke the heartbreaking news as he wrote, "Unfortunately, it seems his heart is reaching its end. We are currently working through the process to determine our next steps, which ultimately could lead to a heart transplant."

Despite everything, Greg remains grateful for the love and support he has been receiving in the trying time. "We are so thankful for the incredible support we have received over the years. We have received worldclass care at Levine Children's Hospital and are so appreciative of their amazing team," he shared.

"We don't know how long we will be within these hospital walls. We do know that we are in full control of our attitudes and our outlook," so he continued. He also praised his son for being a "fighter since birth. We are going to get through this as a family and be better off as a result of this experience. Thanks for everyone's prayers. The Olsen Family."

Friends and fans poured support for the former Carolina Panthers star in the comment section. Fellow Carolina Panthers alum Jonathan Stewart commented with folded hands emoji. Washington Football Team of the National Football League quarterback Kyle Allen, Bill Rancic and Baltimore Ravens player Ed Dickson also sent prayers for Greg and his family.
