After joking about testing positive for coronavirus, the former JYJ member claims that he 'just wanted to deliver a message that we should all be aware of the risk to minimize the number of victims.'

AceShowbiz - K-pop star Hero Jaejoong has apologised to fans for joking about testing positive for Covid-19.

The JYJ star has confessed the prank was a bad April Fool's Day joke.

As many of his 1.9 million followers turned on the singer he insisted he was trying to raise awareness of the coronavirus pandemic.

"I want to sincerely apologise," the "Rotten Love" singer wrote. "It was not right - I know that. I just wanted to deliver a message that we should all be aware of the risk to minimise the number of victims."

"I'm so scared that there might come the second, the third corona-panics caused by outdoor activities and contact in closed spaces. So, I think we all need to be alert. I just wanted to tell the people who don't care about the virus: 'Please listen up, people. Don't get sick'."

The 34-year-old has a history of pranking fans - he once announced false marriage plans to dupe devotees.
