Though he is relieved that the case is 'resolved,' Bradford Cohen claims that 'it should have been completely dismissed' because the 'Zeze' rapper wasn't aware of the firearm in the vehicle at the time.

AceShowbiz - Kodak Black has been handed down 12 months in prison for his gun charges in Niagara County. Giving an update on the case was his attorney Bradford Cohen, who actually did not represent him in the New York case.

In his Monday, March 30 Instagram post, Bradford shared "some good news and some frustration" regarding the case. While he is relieved that the case "is resolved," he argued that "it should have been completely dismissed," because the rapper wasn't aware of the firearm, which was in the car at the time, "and it was registered and legal to one of the other individuals he was with."

Noting how unfair the sentence is, Bradford stressed, "Even the Judge asked the prosecutor why are they not dismissing." The lawyer stated that Kodak would serve his 12-month prison sentence concurrently with his existing 46-month federal sentence stemming from him illegally purchasing a firearm in his home state, before lamenting the time that the "Zeze" hitmaker would waste in jail. "@kodakblack just wanted to resolve it so he doesn't lose anytime in federal," he said.

Bradford went on claiming, "You see when you are out of federal custody you lose that time on your federal case. Now with the Coronavirus, its unknown when they will pick him up due to this virus. The BUREAU OF PRISONS @bureauofprisons needs to address these issues that federal inmates are credited back time they miss due to this outbreak."

He also brought up claims that Kodak "is being treated differently than any other inmate and any other defendant," saying that he would delve deeper into this issue sometime later.

Kodak and three other men were arrested in April 2019 after authorities claimed they had marijuana and a Glock 9mm inside of a Cadillac Escalade while attempting to cross the United States-Canada border. He did not declare the gun upon arriving at the border and as a result, U.S. Customs Agents arrested the 22-year-old Florida star and the three men accompanying him.
