The former 'Saved by the Bell' star claims that he and the 'Transformers' actor are practising social distancing by staying at least six feet apart, but followers are quick to call them out for hypocrisy.

AceShowbiz - Mark Wahlberg and Mario Lopez have come under fire for sharing video footage of themselves working out together - despite encouraging fans to self-isolate amid the coronavirus crisis.

The actors and fitness fanatics are regular gym buddies, and on Thursday (March 26), they both headed to a private fitness centre in Los Angeles, which had been closed to the public as part of the city's lockdown to slow the spread of COVID-19.

In their Instagram videos, the stars each made it clear they were practising social distancing by staying at least six feet (1.8 metres) apart, as per official medical guidelines, as they showed off exercises fans could do in their own homes without the need for equipment.

"Everyone's pretty much been cooped up in their home for the last couple of weeks," former "Saved by the Bell" star Lopez said in his clip, which also showed another man and a woman in the background.

"I think now more than ever since we don't know when this is going to end, we need to stay active, not just for your physical health but for your mental health..."

Motioning to Wahlberg, he added, "My boy, Mark, we're staying six feet away. This place we're at right now we have completely to ourselves. It is sanitised, disinfected... Homie brought me the batting gloves. We're good to go."

However, followers were quick to call the actors out for hypocrisy, having both frequently urged fans to stay at home and self-isolate and abide by state lockdown orders.

"Teach people from your own homes. Stay at home for real," one social media user commented, while another fumed, "Stay home and stay away from others who don't live with you."

"Shouldn't gyms be closed there like dang near everywhere else???" added a third person, questioning why the non-essential facility was open for the pair.

Lopez and Wahlberg have yet to respond to the criticism.
