AceShowbiz - Drew Carey's ex-fiancee Dr. Amie Harwick is dead after an attack by her ex-boyfriend. The therapist reportedly fell from a third story balcony during an altercation with her former boyfriend on Saturday, February 15.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirms that they got a call early Saturday morning of a woman screaming in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood. "On Saturday, February 15, 2020, around 1:16 A.M. Hollywood patrol officers responded to a radio call of a 'woman screaming' in the 2000 block of Mound Street in Hollywood Hills," the LAPD said in a statement released on Sunday evening.
When cops arrived, they were met in the street by Amie's roommate, who said that she was being assaulted inside her home. The roommate had escaped by jumping over a wall and going to a neighboring residence to call for help.
When officers attempted to get inside Amie's house, they found her unresponsive underneath a third story balcony. She suffered significant injuries consistent with a fall and was unresponsive. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead due to her injuries by doctors.
The investigation reveals possible possible evidence of a struggle upstairs as well as forced entry into the residence. After locating surveillance footage in the neighborhood, police determined the assailant was a white male dressed in black.
Amie's ex Gareth Pursehouse was arrested around 4:30 P.M. on Saturday by FBI-LAPD Fugitive Task Force members on suspicion of murder outside his residence in Playa Del Rey. The therapist recently broke up with Gareth and she had expressed fear about him, filing a restraining order which expired two weeks ago. The two had recently seen each other in the past few weeks.
Amie was previously in a relationship with "The Price Is Right" host Drew Carey. They started dating in 2017 and announced their engagement in 2018, but called it off less than a year later. She appeared in 2015's documentary "Addicted to Sexting".
